Review on Never Cry Werewolf

Never Cry Werewolf by Heather Davis.
I read this in one long night, not because I couldn't put it down but because it was so short. I gave it two stars out of five just because I had such high hopes for it and I was disappointed.

Moonlight can totally change your life, and it all starts so simply. You. Him. The Moon. You're toast.
Okay, so maybe Shelby has made a few mistakes with boys lately. But her stepmother totally overreacts wen she packs her off to brat camp. Suddenly it's good-bye prom dress; hello, hiking boots.
Things start looking up, though, when Shelby meets fellow camper (and son of a rock star!) Austin Bridges 3rd. But soon she realises there's more to Austin than crush material-his family has a dark secret, and he wants Shelby's help guarding it...

I was so disappointed! I had such fabulously high hopes for this amazing sounding book! Brat camp, evil stepmother, fit boy, love love love! But that didn't happen. The characters lacked depth and remained simple throughout the story, Davis didn't delve any deeper into the complexity of everything, the myths and what could happen and they fell in love within a week, I mean in some stories that works, but this one it really didn't flow right. Also, there was a very odd bit right at the end that didn't fit in with anything, it was just there...unless Davis was trying to set it up so she could write a sequel ?

There were good points! Like the actual idea, brat camp, fit boy who we fall in love with etc etc. was a great idea, but the book needs to be longer to compensate for it! The evil stepmother and uncaring father, while she rebels etc was a really good idea to, if only we could have delved deeper into the whys, hows and Shelby's feelings would have made it even better!
